Miss these trends, and your home could feel outdated before the year is over.
This year, we’re combining the hottest in Home Building (architectural) Trends along with Interior Design Trends.
Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Integration
Seamless indoor-outdoor integration is now a defining feature of luxury living. Large retractable glass walls create an effortless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces, enhancing the overall living experience. Covered outdoor lounges with heated flooring allow for year-round enjoyment, ensuring comfort in all seasons. Fully equipped outdoor kitchens are increasingly sought after, featuring high-end grilling stations, integrated pizza ovens, and sophisticated stone countertops. Climate-controlled pergolas further elevate outdoor living, offering adaptability for varying weather conditions. These features are essential in creating luxurious, functional spaces that extend the home’s living area.
The combination of natural materials and cutting-edge design details brings a refined, cohesive atmosphere to both indoor and outdoor living spaces, making them essential features of today’s luxury homes.
Bespoke Wellness Suites
Homeowners are prioritizing health with dedicated spa-inspired bathrooms, infrared saunas, and in-home cold plunge pools. Luxury wellness suites now feature oxygen therapy rooms, biophilic design elements, and aromatherapy steam showers to create a holistic relaxation experience. In our recent eNewsletter “Stay NGaged”, our Founder and CEO shares her experience, along with photos, of a recent trip to one of her favorite spa destinations #Sensei by #FourSeasons on the private island of Lana’i in Hawaii. Why not bring the spa experience into your home so that you can experience it whenever you want without the need to physically travel.
The Hottest Paint Color of 2025: Midnight Plum
Luxury interiors are shifting from neutral tones to deep, moody hues. Note, neutral tones will never be out of style – keep in mind that even black is a neutral. Don’t be apologetic about using black as a neutral…it’s sexy. In terms of popular colors for 2025, the standout color is Midnight Plum—a rich, sophisticated shade blending deep purple and charcoal for an elegant, modern look. This color is being used in statement walls, cabinetry, and ceiling treatments for a bold yet timeless ambiance. For those looking for a lighter alternative, Jewel Tones, especially yellow is making a resurgence this year. Not super bright, rather rich, deep and sensual. Darker hues of green are also super popular amongst our discerning clients while kitchen designs are getting more creative. One trend that became popular within the past 2-3 years, is the addition of wallpaper on ceilings. We see this trend continuing as we strategically layer it on in our current projects under construction. Why not bring all of your personality into the space where you spend a lot of time and do most of your entertaining?
Warm Minimalism
The sleek, ultra-modern aesthetic is evolving with natural textures, curved furniture, and soft neutral palettes that exude warmth. Materials like textured plaster, raw silk wall coverings, and sculptural wooden furniture are softening contemporary spaces while maintaining a sophisticated feel. One approach that I specifically like to use on walls or as a finishing approach to range hoods or floor-to-ceiling fireplace surrounds is Roman Clay. So what is it, this finishing approach is clay-based, plaster-like – that creates texture on smooth interior walls. It is smooth to the touch with a finished marble-like effect.
What is no longer a design trend is stark white, stoic, interiors that no longer feel personal. Gone are the days of interiors that feel cold and lifeless, lacking the layers that make a home truly engaging.
The Hottest Kitchen & Scullery Design for 2025
The open-concept kitchen is evolving into a more layered, functional space with hidden sculleries for prep work and storage. Dark-stained walnut cabinetry, leathered quartzite countertops, and integrated appliance garages create an ultra-luxurious yet practical cooking environment. Arched doorways leading to the scullery, fluted cabinetry, and hidden pantries with sensor lighting are redefining modern kitchen design. In luxury homes, range hoods, particularly covered range hoods have, very much, taken the place of microwaves above the range or cooktop. I have long been a believe that microwaves should never be the center of attention in a kitchen. When it is centered above the range or cooktop, it indeed, has become the center area of focus by default. As a designer and builder, for years, we have been relocating microwaves into microwave drawer spaces that keeps the function of this appliance yet reduces it to its place of usage and not kitchen fashion. Now, on to the question that seems to be very popular these days, especially amongst our luxury homeowners…
Pantry vs. Butler Pantry vs. Scullery…which one is for you?
Many of our clients with large open spaces are looking for ways to maintain the privacy of food preparation and achieve persistently clean countertops, while entertaining guests. When this is the desire, we design either a Butler Pantry or a full Scullery. The Butler Pantry is different from a simple pantry that really acts as a closet for non-perishable food storage. A Butler Pantry typically includes a 2nd sink a wine cooler, cocktail preparation space and/or under cabinet refrigeration. It is a place that provides a staging area for serving meals. A scullery is where most, if not all, of the appliances are located. Meal prep and cooking happens in the scullery so that the kitchen is where food presentation, entertainment and conversation can uninhibitedly exist.
In addition to providing a seamless cooking and entertaining experience, both Butler Pantries and Sculleries offer luxury homeowners the opportunity to elevate their home's functionality with high-end materials and custom finishes. These spaces can be tailored to suit individual tastes—whether incorporating additional cabinetry, unique countertops, or custom wine storage systems. These areas can also be outfitted with specialty lighting, integrated sound systems, and even hidden compartments for storing delicate china or servingware, ensuring that every element of the home is both beautiful and functional. These added touches not only enhance the day-to-day usability of the space but also contribute to the overall ambiance of opulence that defines a luxury home.
